Fri 14/8 Rocky Mountaineer
Back on the train after a night in Kamloops and a superb breakfast in the train’s luxurious dining car. Yummy.
I became fascinated by the scenes of the railroad because it presented so many photo opportunities:
We saw evidence of much wildlife along the railway. Here is an osprey nest built on a bridge:
Yes, I know it’s blurred
but the train was moving fast and I was leaning over someone’s seat and there was no time to fiddle around and focus properly blah blah. This is an osprey nest, trust me.
Here’s another view of the train about to go into a tunnel:
And this photo shows Hell’s Gate, one of the most dangerous locations where the railway was built. About 2 million salmon pass up the Fraser River beneath this bridge, on their way to the spawning grounds:
And so, after another unforgettable day, we eventually arrived in Vancouver. We were really sorry to leave the train and its crew. An absolutely amazing experience!
